Aligned 3D printing for photonic packaging
Quantum X align combines high-precision alignment with high-speed 3D printing to fabricate freeform micro-optics directly on optical fibers, photonic chips, and other photonic devices. Fiber cores, chip edges, fiducials, and surface features are automatically detected, enabling each micro-optic to be printed in its precisely aligned position.
The system combines Aligned 2-Photon Lithography (A2PL®) with high-speed 3D printing by Two-Photon Grayscale Lithography (2GL®). With 3D alignment accuracy down to 100 nm, high optical surface quality, and up to 60× faster printing than classic Two-Photon Polymerization, Quantum X align supports optical coupling solutions from R&D to scalable manufacturing.
This approach enables Free Space Microoptical Coupling (FSMOC) between fibers and photonic chips, with optical interfaces tailored to guide light, adapt mode fields, and reduce assembly complexity.
